HI All,
After searching with different option, not found any posting my question. If repeat please excuse.
I have a set of datasets which are imporatant as per my work. However I may not use all of them daily. So they are getting MIGRATED and sometimes they are getting deleted as our mainframe limits 180 days.
I heard a technique of XCHECK member use in the PDS will avoid this problem. And some CLIST function will take care of this. However I not sure about more details Can any body help me??
Thanks

You could run a daily job that looks at these datasets (for example ADRDSSU). The correct solution would be to use a management class that does not allow the migration or deletion. You might be able to change the datasets to a better management class, but you might also be required to adhere to the rules of your company and rules of ACS. These were set up to prevent dataset flooding. So, you need to know what options your shop has to offer. |

From the storage management point of view - The whole reason that datasets are migrated is because they have not been used for a sufficient period of time.
They may be important to you, but on a wider view - why should you hold a valuable resource just for yourself when it is apparent that you do not use.
If they really are important to you, go talk to your storage people to extend the life of the datasets, but do not do silly little tricks to stop unused datasets being migrated and leave the DASD resource free for people that DO use it. _________________ If it's true that we are here to help others,
