We have interface with many systems running in diff platforms. A recent task needed a Oracle Team to send us Manager names and it had special characters (Multibyte). Imagine the Names of Spanish ppl.

Their argument is they cudnt FTP because, Mainframe cudnt recognise these characters and its getting rejected.

Can we do something on Mainframes to make this File transfer happen? And is there any special way to handle these Multibyte characters in our programs (Cobol or Easytrieve)

I searched the forum using the Key work, Multibye .. no help. Any links to topics already discussed on this will be helpful too.

Thanks

I think that the term you may find more helpful is DBCS
Double Byte Character Set
