Alissa,
I just sent a mail to the given above.Could you please check it.
Kolusu&Alissa,
I tried by adding few chracters in the second record after 279 position.The OUTFIL is working fine with IFTHEN.
I am not in a position to figureout the reason why the SYNCTOOL steps are working fine without any problem with the short records ?
Do I need to modify the OUTFIL to take care of the length with VLFILL or some thing linke that ? _________________ ----------------

Is your input a VB file? Can you do this.
1. Run the job with synctool
2. Run the job with SORT and OUTFIL
3. Compare the output 3 which has the IFTHEN statement and see which records are off.

Hi Kolusu,
I ran the jobs and the second record is only the differnece I am getting.This is the record with the short in length. Forgot to menton.My file is a VB file.
