After trying few other options like giving only the file name with /u , it seemed to work upto the point of sumission of jcl. Then it submitted jcl without steps but a statement after jobcard for STDOUT as //STDOUT DD SYSOUT=* .

Where am I going wrong now?

I don't think Semigeezer is upset at you, Shakkina, but rather at me and Taltyman for not paying proper attention to what was written before - for which I, at least, apologise. Just ignore me and listen to Semigeezer!
