wdnealis,

I guess you know the first 1or 2 qualifiers of the dynamically created gdg bases. Change your listcat command to issue at LEVEL.

Code:

LISTCAT LEVEL('HLQ') ALL

Now you will get a list of the GDG/nonvsam datasets in the listing. Now filter out the gdgbases and check the creation date. If it is current date then that is the GDG base you want to process.

Hope this helps..

Cheers

Thanks, Kolusu.

That's an excellent idea, but using

LISTCAT LEVEL('HLQ.HLQ') ALL would result in over 15,000 results.

The third qualifier is the one being passed into the program from SYSIN which is being used with two additional qualifiers to build the LISTCAT ENT.

So If I could use a wildcard character LISTCAT LEVEL('HLQ.HLQ.*') ALL
that may allow me to narrow it down to 3,000.

Or if I could add more qualifiers after the wild card
LISTCAT LEVEL('HLQ.HLQ.*.HLQ.HLQ') ALL
that would allow me to narrow it down to the potential 255 GDG limit.

Is that an option?

P.S.

Also the files are coming in at various times for processing, so currrent date may produce multiple or inaccurate file results.

ok, here's the solution.

The IDCOMND ddname is the key as mentioned on the thread:
http://www.mvsforums.com/helpboards/viewtopic.php?p=10515#10515

This file will contain the LISTCAT command, so the LISTCAT created in the program has to be loaded into that file associated with the IDCOMND ddname.

A PARM containing the GDG base is better if it can be passed in; this is what the ASSEMBLER, JCL, and TSO commands need.

Thanks for all of you help.
