4 kids will make one struggle where ever you go ! Smile But the cost of living in Mumbai will make the pinch really hard.

Dibakar, I was planning to visit Goa sometime now with my friends. Any advice ?

Hi tidda,

Though it is a 'Non-Technical Topics' topic but I am not sure if I can answer the question in 'Related Non-Technical Topics'. So I will try to be brief while narrating my experience. PM me for more.

1. Don't worry which part of Goa you land, all are enjoyable.

2. Alchohol is cheapest I have seen anywhere. Fenny is famous but Port Wine is probably preferable.

3 Hotel rate was cheap when I went but probably it will be double now.

4 Enjoy fresh sea food. Goan foods are spicy.

5 Regarding beaches, Anjuna, Vagator, Calangute and Colva are distinct and enjoyable. Calangute is active till late night. Colva is bit isolated then other tourist spots. Other places you can easily roam by renting a bike (no insurance).

6 Haven't explored Panaji, Vasco Da Gama and Old Goa so can't say anything about them.

7 Weather would be nice, no need for woolens.

8 Travelling by bus is convenient and cheap.

Hope this is brief enough to pass through moderators.

Diba.

Man..how did i miss such a nice thread..??? I am in the UK now and would be returning to India soon. I have worked in Hyderabad ever since I started my career and now intend to move out... Bombay is an option I would like to exercise primarily to experience the energy of the city.
Goa sounds fantastic but i am not aware of any software companies there. In your case I would suggest trying out Kerala.Cochin,TRivandrum have got some godd software companies. I am sure life will be much better than the north.

Dibakar , Manas and Cotigo,

I am really late to this link but i would aslo like to share some words. It is nice that all have shared their views but i agree to Cotigo that Bangalore is really a nice place to live in and enjoy working. It is not a big Metro like Mumbai / Kolkotta (Manas and Dibakar being Bengali Dadas ) ,Bangalore is a lovely place to be but things have certainly changed a lot for past 2 years with lot of job opportunities and many people are migrating a lot. There are lot of IT Companies and some areas are mostly filled by IT Professionals only.I have been to Mumbai few times but somehow life is tough not so cool as Bangalore.

krish_caitu,

There are lot of opportunities for Onsite and i suggest you search websites / hope that your company sends you on H1 to USA.

shekhar123,

Thanks for sharing your experience about Bangalore. I am constantly getting nice feedback about Bangalore. Next time if I look for a change then I will definitely target Bangalore also.

Diba.
