HI,
I just saw some code and I am trying to figure out the use of II and III. I checked the manual, but didnt find anything.

EDIT=(II,IIT).

what is the use of this in OUTREC? I mean II and III? Will they format the data? I have seen IIII-II-II for Date.

Thanks,
KRK123.

KRK123,

Edit verb is used to specify the number in a readable format. There are probably around 26 defined edit masks. I is used to supress the leading zeroes. This is similar to specifing Z in cobol

Check this link (do a find search for m5 ) on this page and you will find all the availbale edit masks.

Hope this helps...

Cheers

krk123,

The link to "DFSORT Application Programming Guide" that Kolusu listed has complete information on DFSORT's OUTFIL statement. Also, for some more information on DFSORT's numeric editing features, see "Reformatting Features" - "Reformatting: Numeric Editing" in "Beyond Sorting" at:
