I am sure, many have heard of this word "Legacy System" . Often I wonder, if it just means some systems which were built in the early years of computers.

Any thoughts on this?

Vallishar,

You're on the right lines, in my opinion. They weren't necessarily built very many years ago, just long enough ago that the techniques used have become unfashionable. Legacy systems are commonly at the heart of a company's organisation.

My definition would be 'an existing system/application which would not be constructed with the same or similar hardware and/or software if it was created today but despite this needs to continue running and being maintained'. But that's just my personal definition Mr. Green
