Hello all,

In an ongoing effort to provide quality service's to all our members and to make MVSFORUMS the one stop resource for all your mainframe and IT needs, we are considering adding a few new forums to our site. I would like to take a poll and see what all of you think the most beneficial forums to add would be. Our long term goal is to expand this site into other IT areas so please let us know what you would like to see.

Best regards,

-dalaly

Dalaly,

I have voted 'Other' to this, because most options are not MVS related at all. If you want to go this way, you have to have a site that is not called MVS Forums.

Cheers,
Merv

Hi Mervyn,

I totally agree with you. The main purpose of this poll is to see how we can make this site a one stop resource for not only MVS related topics but other IT related areas as well. Our main concentration is MVS and we have absolutely no plans of abandoning this. Actually we are in the process of adding new MVS related forums as well as some really cool tools. We want to be known as the one stop resource for the entire MVS community, but as we are all well aware the IT industry is growing at a phenomenal rate and we just want to add other services to this site so we can attract not only MVS users but also other IT users. These new users can share their knowledge as well as benefit from some of the wonderful information/knowledge all our members have and continue to provide here at MVSFORUMS. Some of these topics I have mentioned in the poll go hand-n-hand with the mainframe so it may not be a bad idea to have a forum related to "Web Technologies and The Mainframe" added to MVSFORUMS.

As for the name MVSFORUMS I have no plans of changing it because this is who we are and the main service we want to provide to all of our members. What I may do is have a link to another board sponsored by MVSFORUMS which will be related to the other areas the poll mention's. Thank you for your suggestion! Wink

Best regards,

Is the poll over? Its too bad to see only twelve votes.

Could it be that people were not aware of it? In such cases email can be sent to all members about the poll with relevant link.

Or could it be that choices were not sufficient. I think there should have been two more choices like 'None' and 'Don't care', which don't get covered under 'Other', to get more response

I did not vote in the poll because mvsforums already has all my areas of interest. I agree that whatever forums you decide to add will introduce me to new stuff and I look forward to learning the same.

The Poll is not over yet. I have not assigned a timing as to when the poll will end; I will make that determination myself, probably in another month. I agree with your suggestion regarding adding more choices, so I will add two additional choices as you have suggested.

Thank you and everyone who has contributed to the poll thus far. All our members input is taken very seriously and will be used to help us improve MVSFORUMS.com. Smile

I voted for NONE because I don't want to see any of the topics suggested. I have an interest in HTML, JAVA, VB, Dot Net, etc. but don't want to see those topics here. There are other really good sites for that.

Dalaly,

Adding more choice got one extra vote, thanks for implementing the suggestion.

But you didn't answer regarding visibility of this post. Wouldn't it be better to put a thread at the main page where more people will notice it.

There are a lot of sites mentioned for different topics. It looks like we need a list of site links for topics and other forums - like HTML, JAVA, etc.

Hi Dalaly,

What about adding new help discussion forums related to AIX OS.
We could include topics ranging from programming on AIX, CICS RS/6000, CTG, AIX shell scripts, Encina etc..

regards,

About NATURAL and ADABAS !

Perhaps being a proprietary thing, many of the Software AG product related information is hard to find and not as easily accessible as that from IBM.

Topics such as these would be more than helpful! 8)

System and process Automation topics.

I would imagine that folks involved with EDI might want a dedicated forum.
