Can anyone tell me how to find the creation time of a GDG?

I dont know SAS. Thanks for the reply. Please let me know if we can find it thru TSO commands or thru JCL.

Creation time is not easily found. If the file was written as an output file, you could search SMF records. See this similar link: http://www.mvsforums.com/helpboards/viewtopic.php?t=161&highlight=smf

SMF records are written continously so you'll need to find the records for the day in question.

ISPF 3.4 gives you the info you need. ISPF 3.2 will also give you the info, but you have to know the DSN including the generation number.

Natalie,

Ganesh is looking for the creation TIME of the dataset which can be extracted from SMF records.I don't think DSLIST(3.4) shows the creation time of the dataset. It shows the creation date.

Hari,

Like Nathalie suggestion, your sas code only return the creation DATE, not the creation TIME ...
