|
|
Hi All,
I had a code in changeman and it got modified about a week back by somebody else, now i want to get back my code. As changeman is a version control tool...can i get back my code without the modifications done a week back??
We didnt take a back up manually of the package in which the code was present...so any way to retrieve it back...does changeman take backups by itself...
Any ideas??
Thanks,
Deepesh |

deepeshk79,
I never worked on changeman , so can't help much. Did you try with your system's people?

Hi Kolusu,
The changeman version we are using is 4.1.6, but in the latest version 5.3, i heard they have an option backout, using which we can retrieve any older version of the code.
However i was lucky to get a backup from another PDS of mine.....but not sure how it can be done in changeman..
Thanks,
Deepesh |

Deepesh,
We have changeman in our shop, but it has been heavily customized for our internal usage. The information below may be shop specific, you need to check with your changeman admins for your site specific details.
I do not quite understand your needs -
1. Do you mean that you had a component in your package and somebody changed that component. And now you need to retrieve your version of that component.
or
2. Do you simply want to retrieve the previous version (version prior to current production version) of a component.
For problem 1:
At out shop all our changeman packages are backed up on tape everyday and we can retrive any component for any given day. This might be happening at your shop too, check with your changeman admins.
For problem 2:
While you CHECKOUT a component from your production environment into your package you can specify the version of the component you are looking for in the SOURCE LIBRARY option. Entering 0 for the SOURCE LIBRARY will checkout the current production version of the component. For previous versions use -1, -2 as appropriate.
Generally, backout option will remove a component (source and load incase of programs) from the production enviroment and will replace the previous version of the component in the same environment.

Hi,
I had used changeman sometime ago. I think we can retrieve the older version of the code. Changeman by itself maintains versions of the codes.
I think you can find it if you go inside the BUILD option from the Primary Menu.
I'll give the exact info later.
Hope it helps in some way,
Regards,
Vivek |
