Not sure if this is the correct forum - feel free to move elsewhere otherwise.
I've googled but can't find anything relevant. I am testing a program for restartability and am running into a problem on the restart program.
Basically, I have 2 profiles in Xpediter, one for the abend job (deliberate after a number of checkpoints) and a second one that should restart the first abended job.
In Xpediter, I am running both scenarios as BMP tests. My problem arises when I run the restart inasmuch as it always reads the FIRST record from the input file even though it might have read 500 records with, say, a checkpoint taken every 50 records. Does anyone recognize this situation?
I won't include any more details until someone asks for them _________________ Michael |

How's your GSAM defined which is used in restart? If there is a step which defines the GSAM, do you comment that out at restart? _________________ Regards,

Both times the input file is defined as SHR (I think you possibly misunderstood the problem as being to with output GSAM; that's a different matter).
One thought that occurred to me (which I've sent to support) is whether it could have anything to do with us running a SYSPLEX system (if that's the correct expression). This COULD explain things inasmuch as I start my first deliberate abend program in one CPU and then the restart program is run in another. (Trouble is, I would expect problems more along the lines of "sometimes it starts at the correct record, sometimes it doesn't" depending on whether both jobs are run in the same CPU or not) _________________ Michael |

I doubt if it has something to do with SYSPLEX. If there was a problem with that setup all the users would complain.
For an experiment, if you repeat your test outside xpediter, do you get the same results? _________________ Regards,
