Personally, I have never been able to get COND=EVEN to work....

Would this work if the previous step got 'DATASET NOT FOUND', for example? When I tried it, the step with COND=EVEN on it flushed...

Do you have an example of when it would work ?

Probably due to not understanding what is supposed to happen. . .
Look here (the flashlight/tubelight near the top left is the manual Search):

No. And it is not supposed to work for this situation. . .

If you read something in the manual that is not clear, post your doubt and someone will clarify.

OK, thanks... I checked the manuals.... seems like they only mention that COND=EVEN will only NOT work if you have a system x22 abend, like 222, 322, 522....

Does anyone have an example of when it would work with an abend other than an x22, and 'Data set not found' ?

You need to re-read the manual. You have misunderstood what was documented.

There is no need for another "example". The COND=EVEN is the example. . . Suggest you create a test that will cause an s0c7 and follow this step with a step that specifies COND=EVEN.

COND=EVEN will work for ABENDS - not JCL errors. "Data set not found" raises a JCL error. COND=EVEN will not work for this.
