Hello All,

Please let me know the guidelines for estimation of mainframe componets.

Example;

Complexity definations for IMS Database:

High : New Database
Medium: New Segment
Low:New database field, change contents of existing field

Here i want to elaborate more on New database(High) like if it is database with only one root segment and child segment, i will consider as Low complexity....

I need same complexity guidelines for all mainframe components;;
Databases,Screens, Main modules, Jobs, Interface files, ROutines etc...

Thanks
Ramesh

You could either use a Function Point(FP) estimation or a Complexity Point(CP) analysis. FP estimation is somewhat new and may not provide accurate estimates for mainframes as most of the system characteristics cannot be defined.
