could anyone please tell that how to find that a paricular datset is sms managed or not..

vivek,

Your link relates more to empty files. An easy check for SMS-managed is to do LISTCAT on the file and look for MGMTCLASS, etc fields shown below.

 SMSDATA                                                 
   STORAGECLASS ----SCSDSEQ     MANAGEMENTCLASS--MCSDSEQ
   DATACLASS -------DCSDSEQ     LBACKUP ---0000.000.0000
