				| OK, I started DB2 V8 and it immediately died because of some problem going from CCSID 37 to CCSID 1208.
I DO NOT!!! repeat DO NOT know or understand anything about this Unicode stuff, I've actually read some of the doc and still haven't been able to find out even if we are talking about a new started task!

I think the reason it got turned on was me saying DRDA=COMMAND in the install clists. I can easily turn it off, but eventually, we may see a situation where we are trying to run SQL from ASCII workstations. IBM SHOULD make a provision for some kind of limited UNICODE thingy where we use only the ASCII-EBCDIC conversions.

Any help or explanations about UNICODE would be appreciated.

				| This is a royal pia.
It's gonna take me more time to figure this stuff out than it took me to do the receive, apply, and SDSNINST steps.

But thanks for the help I guess.

				| OK.
Don't know if Big Blue monitors the board or not. If so, I would STRONGLY suggest they work on Unicode services, make the ACCSID and SCCSID into possible parms in IEASYS00... a few other changes would be nice (but I haven't zeen z/OS 1.8 yet, so alot could be new)

				| Hey, I was happy enuff to get as far as I did today!! But thanks for the tip. I am not a DB2 guru and assumed it had something to do with this being a very bare bones install, no stogroups defined, etc. | |

				| OK, ran the tailor catalog utility and recycled it.
 No more "resource unavailable" messages.
I guess pretty soon, I will have to try some SQL.

   I hate application type stuff...
