Hi all,

as a "newbee", working for a short time with z/OS resp. TSO I have the following Question/Problem.
A few words to the environment I'm workin with:
I'm using a Terminal-Emulator with TN3270 resp. a TCP/IP-WAN-Connection to work with a z900 a few hundred miles away from my home.
Thats not unusual nowadays, but has a few obstacles. For example the WAN-Connection crashes while I'm in the middle of an EDIT-Session, as happened yesterday!
Tryin to reconnect to to the installation and issue a 'LOGON' against TSO results in an error-message
"IKJ56425I LOGON rejected, UserId <userid> already logged on to system <lpar>"

Though I cannot call anyone from the operating-staff, the only choice for me is to wait some hours (up to six, or so) before I can continue work!

Is there any chance to help myself, without calling the operation-staff, so that I can quickly proceed with my work?

Thanks in advance and MERRY CHRISTMAS from Germany

Reiner

In your logon screen, see if you have a 'reconnect' option. If so, you can select it by typing a '/' infront of it while logging on.

When terminals get disconnected, the system waits a period of time to allow the reconnect that sriramla described. After that time, the session gets S622 and abends. Then you can logon again.

Hopefully you can do the reconnect option. Otherwise, maybe the SYSPROGs can reduce the minutes for RECONLIM in SYShlq.PARMLIB(TSOKEY00).

Bill and Sriramla, the RECONNECT did'nt work, probably because TCP/IP and-/or SNA assigns for each incoming connection a different Terminal-Id (didnt know much about TCP/IP in MVS, but maybe thats the cause). But the idea with TSOKEY00 is good! I think, i write a mail to my mentor in the new year, maybe he can change the parm!

Thank you both and a happy new year!

I'd like to know why he can't call the Ops staff to have the TSO id cancelled? I have had a simular problem using Citrix with a dial up connection.

The terminal ID does not need to be the same, just a similar model type. When you say it didn't work, what do you mean? Can you describe the error or symptom?

BTW, I use an "S" to select the RECONNECT option, a slash is invalid.

Bill,

1.) I also use an "S" to RECONNECT.
2.) I cant call any operation staff, because for now I'm working as a "guest"
on the z900 of the University of Leipzig, Germany and there is no "operation
staff" like it is on a commercial site. At best I can write a mail to one of the
professor's and receive an answer hours later...
3.) When I use RECONNECT there is an error-message like "UserId <myuserid>
already in use..." or something similar.

Best regards

Reiner
