Because of where the requirement started out and where it ended up - something extremely easy to do presented as something more difficult and then changed to something else and changed again, and finally revealed as something easy, all because you didn't actually know what your data looked like and didn't find out before you posted. Maybe not your fault, but it can be frustrating to deal with that kind of thing. Also frustrating for me because it turns out you're using Syncsort, not DFSORT and as the DFSORT guy, I don't answer questions on Syncsort. _________________ Frank Yaeger - DFSORT Development Team (IBM)

kolusu and yaeger,
I donot know why you guys are making fun of this....
Vkphani,
We aint making fun at you. As Frank already mentioned the thread went in many directions and in the end turned out to be a simple one.
Also you are too quick too point out that the given solution does not work ignoring the fact that we cannot see the data. You just don't even put an effort to intrepret simplest of error messages. Try to solve the abends and you will learn a lot in the procees. Remember that we might not be here round the clock to help you out.
You are also quick to point out if we are joking at you within just 2 posts which is not even our intention. Why don't you put the same effort in describing/solving the problem?

I have hosting problems and the website was down for almost 18 hours. I don't earn single penny on this site and pay everything out of my pocket and spend endless hours providing solutions, but you don't have patience to get over 2 posts.
