Vinnay,

Please be clear in your request. If you are trying to get the number of lines in a given dataset using REXX and do some processing then you can use the following rexx Routine.

Code:

/*  REXX  */
 "ISPEXEC VIEW DATASET('your.input.dataset') MACRO(mac)"
EXIT 0

Macro: 'mac'
Code:

"ISREDIT MACRO"
"ISREDIT (LINENO) = LINENUM .ZLAST"
 SAY LINENO
"ISREDIT BUILTIN CANCEL"

Thanks,
Phantom

vinnay,

There is no standard TSO command to find the no: of lines in a dataset

Read this topic and you will find the various ways of finding the record count.

A picture string is used to describe the type of string to be found
instead of the exact characters to be found.

Example - ===> find p'
