Hi,

I have requirement as follows. only Syncsort can be used.

file 1
key
AAA 1234
BAA 1234
CAA 1234
DAA 1234
EAA 1234

File 2
key
AAA 5678
BAA 5678
DAA 5678
FAA 5678

Match on the key fields starting position 1 and length 3. and output should be some thing like this

AAA 1234 5678
BAA 1234 5678
CAA 1234
DAA 1234 5678
EAA 1234
FAA ____ 5678

Only Syncsort can be used. I could do it in 5 steps.
hope you have a better solution than this Very Happy
