Hi all,

I am trying to allocate a VSAM KSDS dataset in FILE-AID. But, after allocation if I go and check out the Data Component Information for the KSDS, under Organisation I see KSDS EXTENDED. But, I don't want this EXTENDED option on my KSDS because I am unable to copy the information from an already existing KSDS file similar to this one.

The already existing VSAM KSDS file doesn't have this EXTENDED option under organisation.

Please advise me how to allocate a KSDS dataset without EXTENDED option.

Did you "model" your new VSAM on the already existing VSAM?

We did use the model dataset ,but still got the extended option.

Looks like storage class was specified while allocating the cluster. Remove specification for storage class and then allocate the cluster.

Hi,

The storage class was EXTVS. But if we remove it(give blanks) , then also it defaults to the value EXTVS.

We need to get the value which we should give to avoid the default value from getting populated.

This is a local SMS ACS Routine issue that has to be clarified with your storage manager/system group.
