Hi,
I am posting this as I dont have the quick solutions to this - The requirement is I have an I/p file where certain details are as follows -
123 Abcd
234 nijpoi
123 pqrs
123 mnop
234 jjoijojgsg
I want to concatenate the duplicate records here - my o/p file would be more like -

Thanks in Advance _________________ -Sree |

Sree,
Do you have DFSORT/ICETOOL? Are the number of duplicates constant? If the answer is Yes for both these questions then, read about SPLICE operator in DFSORT/ICETOOL.
What would you want to do with non-duplicate records? _________________ ALL opinions are welcome.

If your input records really have a variable number of bytes you want to "join" from various records (e.g. 4 in each 123 record, 6 in the first 234 record and 10 in the second 234 record, then you can't do this with DFSORT's SPLICE. Is that what the input really looks like and is that what the output should really look like, or are there actually spaces in there that are not being shown? If that's not the way the data actually looks, then try using ubb code tags around the data to show it as it actually looks. _________________ Frank Yaeger - DFSORT Development Team (IBM)
