Kolusu,
Thanks for your quick reply. This link was very helpful. I did not get a clear answer for this, But it seems there are ways by which this can be achieved.

Thanks,
Salauddin

Hi
To access oracle in UNIX box, from Main frame the, we need to install Oracle for OS/390 Client and its components are:

-Oracle Access Manager (chose between 'for CICS' or 'for IMS')

-Net8

-Oracle Precompilers

-Oracle Call Interface

-SQLLoader

-SQLPlus

Of the above components the most important is the NET8, which manages the connections to the Oracle database on Solaris. The supported protocols are TCP/IP and APPC/LU6.2. This product has got inbuilt features to convert the data as well. The data can be accessed through the SQL calls. NET8 runs on the mainframe in a separate address space and the dedicated address space is called TNS (Transparent Network Subtrate). Its similar to the DB2 master batch Job running its own address space, manages connections and accessing data from DB2 tables. This product can be configured to access more than one oracle Instance. Oracle access manager is required if we are using any online transaction manager like CICS or IMS.

Just want to share with you all.

Kolusu, the link you have provided is vey good and once again thanks for the same.

Thanks,
Salauddin
