If we want to replace occurance of a character/string by another character/string provided that character/string occur anywhere in the the file.
Is it neccessary that for this type of operation file must be of fixed block or we can do this thing with variable block also. |

With z/OS DFSORT V1R5 PTF UK90013 (July, 2008), you can now use FINDREP to do this kind of thing quite easily.
