I just need to pick up the dataset name from the spool through my macro!

Hi semigeezer,

I selected the option in "Long message in Pop-Up" of the Settings Panel.
It works fine. Thanks for the solution.

I need to display a long message so as to be descriptive.ZEDSMSG will be able to handle only short messages if am correct and rest would be truncated.

Could any of you suggest a solution?

But i find the message displayed in the left-hand corner of my mainframe screen instead of displaying the message just above the bottom ...

You are right, this works in ISPF command line.

Shall we able to replicate this command in a macro?

My macro pseudocode is
Edit the dataset > Check the return code for dataset in use > If ...

USERID() traces the logon ID,in this case who execute my macro.

But how shall i get to know the user who currently edits a particular dataset xyz?
