I found some info. Thought I would sgare with all of you
Converting Fixed Length Records to Variable Length Records
A new feature to convert Fixed Length records to Variable Length records is now available in DFSort. To use the feature you must be using Release 14 of DFSort with PTF UQ99331. To convert Fixed to Variable length you need to specify FTOV on the OUTFIL statement. There is also an equivalent new option VTOF, which converts variable to fxed length - this is just an alias for the CONVERT option described above.
Otherwise you will need to find another way. You could try using IDCAMS REPRO or IEBGENER, or some file utility like FileAid, or Easitrieve. _________________ Cheers! |

You can use DFSORT's FTOV feature to convert FB to VB. The FTOV feature has been available in DFSORT since March, 2002 (PTF UQ99331). For more information on this feature, see the "FB to VB conversion" Smart DFSORT Trick at:

Compuware's FILEAID product generally does a good job copying between different file formats. |

abracadabra,
You can also use IEBGENER and IDCAMS which are standard IBM utilities for creating an VB output from FB Input.
Hope this helps...
Cheers
